Private Hospital Returns

The Health Services (Private Hospitals and Day Procedure Centres) Regulations 2002 require private hospitals and day procedure centres to report occupancy data to the Secretary on a monthly basis.

Hospitals and day procedure centres that submit data to the Victorian Admitted Episodes Dataset (VAED) are deemed to have fulfilled their obligations under the regulations for the submission of the number of separations, same day separations and bed days.

Agencies not contributing to the VAED

For agencies temporarily not contributing to the VAED, the number of separations, same day separations and bed days must be reported on the AIMS Private Hospitals and Day Procedure Centre's Admitted Patients-PRS/2 Testing Hospitals return. This is an interim collection required until the transmission of patient level data commences/resumes on the VAED. Details for this collection will be included in the PRS/2 testing kit available from the Health Data Standards & Systems Unit (HDSS).
