Cancer Services Review South-West Victoria

In 2010, the Victorian Government commissioned a review of cancer services in the south-west of Victoria. The review involved the scoping of existing cancer services and facilities in both the public and private sector; current referral pathways and patient flows within and outside the region; and an analysis of capacity and demand. The review identified opportunities to strengthen existing cancer services and partnerships, and identified sustainable models to support equity of access to best-practice cancer care, including supportive care.

A separate international benchmarking study on regional and rural radiotherapy services and the potential for radiotherapy service provision and associated requirements for south-west Victoria was also undertaken.

A final report and recommendations addressing the cancer services planning in the south-west of Victoria and feasibility study into the potential for radiotherapy service provision have been prepared for the Minister for Health. These reports are now publicly available.
