About the Clinicians Health Channel
The Clinicians Health Channel is an online information portal providing free access to current, accurate and reliable sources of information for all doctors, nurses and allied health professionals working in the Victorian public health sector.
It’s a clinical information repository of up-to-date evidence-based material primarily for point of care decision making but also for research and ongoing professional development. It has a strong clinical focus incorporating everything from best practice reviews, drug and medication databases to online electronic journal content. Resources include an electronic health library with databases and full text journals, plus links to other clinical reference materials, such as guidelines and protocols.
The Clinicians Health Channel gives clinicians the peace of mind that they have up-to-date decision-making support, based on both expertise and the best evidence available24 hours a day.
The Clinicians Health Channel is an initiative of the Victorian Department of Health (the department), and it aims to:
- Provide equity of access to critical clinical knowledge bases for clinicians in the public health care sector in metropolitan, regional and rural Victoria;
- Facilitate electronic dissemination of information - to ensure that clinical information is available whenever and wherever required; and
- Support integration of evidence based practice into the health care system.
EBSCO has been contracted to provide the Clinicians Health Channel service, sourcing and maintaining the clinical content for the portal from a wide range of authoritative and respected Australian and international publishers, as well as providing search and usage tools for end users.

The Clinicians Health Channel is a gateway to a variety of evidence based resources. The site is managed by EBSCO and the principal author of the site is the department. Dr Paul Ireland is the department staff member responsible for the Clinicians Health Channel.
