Disability Services
Disability Services within the Department of Human Services Victoria has developed a guide with practical advice on making communication and consultation more accessible to people with a disability. The guide was developed in response to the Victorian Government's belief that people with a disability should be able to live in the Victorian community with the same rights, responsibilities and opportunities as other citizens of Victoria.
The Office for Youth
The Office for Youth within the Victorian Department for Victorian Communities highlights that participation of a diverse range of young people in society promotes the unique perspectives and needs of young people and encourages stronger connections within the community. This site has a number of resources that may be of use to you in providing opportunities of participation for young people. The Foundation for Accountability (FACCT)
FACCT is dedicated to helping Americans make better health care decisions. FACCT believes that a more responsive health care system depends on informed and empowered consumers. FACCT works to create tools that help people understand and use quality information, develops consumer focussed quality measures, supports public education about health care quality, supports efforts to gather and provide quality information, and encourages health policy to empower and inform consumers.
DISCERN, UK
DISCERN is a project overseen by the Division of Public Health & Primary Health Care at Oxford University. DISCERN is a general set of quality criteria designed to enable consumers and other health information users judge the quality of treatment information on treatment choices. The DISCERN web-site provides free online access to the DISCERN instrument and handbook.

The King’s Fund
The King's Fund is an independent health charity whose goal is to support the health and health care of the people of London. It aims to achieve this by influencing health policy and stimulating good practice in service provision. Its work is based on evidence of need and a commitment to the values of social justice and public service. Its activities include policy research, service development and audit programs, and information and education services for people working in and with the health service.
Victorian Office of Multicultural Affairs
VOMA
has compiled a series of reports on Victoria's diverse population based on the 2001 Census. The data covers birthplace, language, religion and ancestry, cross-tabulated with selected socio-economic characteristics. The data is presented at the local level, and covers metropolitan, regional and rural areas. Five publications are available on the web site to help you understand the communities of interest and their needs in your area.
Australian Council for Safety & Quality in Health Care
Includes 10 tips for safer health care, which is also available in 15 Community Languages.

Summary Report and Guidelines was prepared under the auspice of the Consumer Focus Collaboration by the Division of Research and Education, Royal Women's Hospital, the Health Issues Centre, and Consumers in Health Consulting.
