Treating & controlling head lice pamphlet

The pamphlet Treating and controlling head lice is produced by the Victorian Government Department of Human Services, Public Health Group.

Pamphlets are free of charge and can be ordered using the Infectious Diseases resource online order form.

The pamphlet has also has been translated into 20 other languages
(Treating and controlling head lice in your language).

Head Lice management guidelines

This document outlines the key roles and responsibilities for key people or organisations involved in the detection, treatment and control of head lice.


Presentations

These powerpoint presentations can be used when conducting information sessions on head lice. They are simple to follow and provide up to date, accurate information for the school. They can very easily be turned into overheads if powerpoint is not available to your group.

Parent-managed head lice program

This program aims to involve all members of the local community rather than relying on a single service provider. This includes parents, the school, childcare centre or kindergarten, local council and community health centres, local business and the Department of Human Services.

Sample head lice school policy

The sample school policy is intended to outline roles, responsibilities and expectations of the school community to assist with treating and controlling head lice in a consistent and coordinated manner. It is available in PDF format as well as Microsoft Word format so schools can modify the sample policy for their own use.


Consent form

The following consent form is an example of a form that may be used to obtain parental consent in Victorian schools choosing to undertake a head lice screening program using volunteer parents.
