Hospital in the Home Review 2009
In 2009 the department completed a review of Hospital in the Home (HITH) programs across Victoria. The review found that HITH is:
- a well established model of care
- safe and effective
- the preferred modality for a core range of conditions
- highly valued by patients, carers and staff.
The review produced:
- Final Report - 25 recommendations made
- Literature Review - review of national and international journal articles, HITH manager survey results, DH VAED data and background analysis
- Qualitative research - results of 52 qualitative patient interviews
- Department of Health response - department support, proposed action and timelines in relation to HITH Review recommendations.
