Subject: Preparation for Next Nurses - Enterprise Bargaining Round - ANF Claim Costing
As you would be aware, the Australian Nursing Federation has commenced circulation of its 2004 Public Sector Claim covering general nurses employed in the Victorian public hospital system and related areas.
The Department, in consultation with the sector through the Nurses’ EB Steering Committee, is undertaking a preliminary costing of the claim to advise Government. Whilst a number of claim items can be costed based on existing available data, including the nurses numbers and costs obtained through the recent conducted survey and various Minimum Data Set databases (eg Payroll MDS and Nurse Workforce MDS), specific additional data will be required to arrive at a valid costing of the claim. Agencies that have not yet responded to the earlier survey should submit their returns as soon as possible (refer to Hospital Circular 22/2003).
Therefore, the Department seeks your assistance and cooperation in completing the below additional data survey for this purpose. There is only a limited time window available for this costing exercise, so your urgent attention to this request is required.
It is absolutely critical that each agency affected by the current agreements, and therefore the next enterprise bargaining round, completes this survey accurately, in the format requested, and returns it to the Department promptly.
The information gathered will be used to directly inform Government of the potential impact of the claim. Before advising Government of the preliminary costing, the Department will be seeking sector sign-off of the figures through the Nurses’ EB Steering Committee.
I would ask that completed survey be returned to the Department by email to Mr Simon Chant (simon.chant@dhs.vic.gov.au) as soon as possible, but by no later than Friday 17 October 2003.
Any queries relating to the survey, or about the process, should also be directed to Mr Chant either by email, or by telephone (9616 2583).
