Hospital Circular 21/2005
Date Issued: 5 September 2005
Distribution: Public Hospitals
Attention: Public Hospitals, Extended Care Centres, Metropolitan Health Services, and Regional Offices
Subject: Hospital in the Home (HITH) - Public Hospital bedday fee for ineligible patients
Public Hospital Service Prices
Ineligible Patients -
- A fee of $204 per bedday will take effect with respect to every ineligible admission for Hospital in the Home (HITH) that occurs on or after 1 July 2005.
- This fee is reflective of the less resource intensive nature of providing this service in a home based setting and the need for hospitals to achieve full cost recovery from ineligible patients for this service.
- It should be noted that this fee applies only to ineligible patients. Public, TAC, VWA and DVA WIES prices already include a cost component for HITH whilst for private patients, a default hospital outreach service bedday rate is already outlined in the Hospital Fees manual.
- If you have any queries in relation to this matter please call Peter Lewis on 9616 9050.
