Statewide Projects 2008 / 2009
Medical Equipment Program (Acute) - $40 million
The Budget allocates $40 million as part of the government’s ongoing commitment to the replacement, upgrade and expansion of medical equipment across Victoria’s public hospital system. The funding will reduce risk to patients, staff and service availability.
State wide Infrastructure Program 2008-09 - $20 million
The Government continues its commitment to the Statewide Infrastructure Program, allocating $20 million in 2008-09 to improve the quality and standard of infrastructure assets across the State. Funding will support approximately 80 infrastructure renewal projects across a range of agencies to support delivery of clinical services.
Ambulance Service Strategy- $7.7 million
Funding of $7.7 million is provided to support the additional paramedic road crews and peak period units across Victoria as well as a hangar for the additional air ambulance helicopter located in Warrnambool.
Ambulance vehicle replacement- $600,000
$600,000 will be provided to support the strategy replacement of ambulance vehicles as part of the Government’s commitment to meeting growth in demand for emergency services. The ambulance vehicle replace project will replace emergency vehicles that have reached the end of their life cycle.
HealthSMART shared Information and Communication Technology (ICT) operations - $26.9 million
The Budget provides $26.9 million to support the operation of the Health Shared ICT service, including a secure, state wide communications network, to be used by all public health services across the state. This service supports current health service needs and will provide the foundation necessary for Victoria to participate in, and benefit from, emerging national e- health initiatives.
Hospital Energy Supply Project- $23.6 million
The Budget allocates $24.6 million to the Hospital Energy Supply Project (HESP) to provide continuity of critical health care service to six of Victoria’s major (Category 1) public hospitals in the event of major disruptions to the state’s reticulated electricity supplies. |
