World-first Arthritis Map helps Victorians

Arthritis Victoria has launched their new Arthritis Map – a practical and interactive online tool for people with arthritis and other musculoskeletal conditions.
The Arthritis Map of Victoria is the first of its kind internationally and displays the latest information on the prevalence of musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions, such as arthritis and osteoporosis.
This practical tool will help people with MSK conditions and their general practitioners and rheumatologists quickly and easily locate nearby healthcare practitioners, support programs and services; helping to support patients achieve the best possible MSK health.
The online tool uses Google Maps, enabling people to instantly retrieve printable door-to-door directions to help them access services with ease.
The Arthritis Map is accessed via the internet and will:
- Help people living with MSK conditions access and locate health services, physical activity programs, public facilities, local support groups and more.
- Assist general practitioners and rheumatologists identify local services that enable their patients to better manage their condition.
- Help healthcare planners in government and the health system understand the impact of MSK conditions on communities.
- Spotlight areas where new services need to be established to keep up with population growth and healthcare demands.
Arthritis and musculoskeletal conditions affect almost one-third of the population, with these numbers steadily increasing.
