Olivia Newton-John Cancer Centre receives $45 million

Almost $45 million will be invested to complete the fit-out of the new Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre.

The completion of the facility will add to Victoria’s cancer treatment and cancer research capacity.

Construction is expected to be completed by 2013.

The Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre will integrate and expand upon services that are currently located across several campuses.

When completed, the centre will provide greater clinical and research facilities including:

• the fit-out of 32 inpatient oncology beds
• 32 inpatient haematology beds
• 28 palliative care beds
• the fit-out of multi-disciplinary outpatient clinics, cancer administration and clinical trial services
• the fit-out of two half-floors of cancer research laboratories.

The centre will combine leading medical treatment and research of international significance, integrated with the best of wellness care and support for patients and their families.

Building on more than 125 years of cancer expertise at the Austin Hospital, in collaboration with the global Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research, the Centre seeks to bridge the gap between research, treatment and cancer care.
