Working Together – Our Disability Action Plan

6 October 2011
The Department of Health has a strong commitment to human rights, diversity and the principles of fair treatment and inclusion.
Working Together – Our Disability Action Plan formally communicates the department’s commitment toward the inclusion and engagement of people with a disability in our workplace and in the Victorian community.
The plan outlines the actions that the department will undertake over the next three years to optimise participation and positive outcomes for people with a disability.
Consistent with the approach across the Victorian Public Service, the four priorities of the plan are:
- reducing barriers to people with a disability accessing goods, services and facilities
- reducing barriers to people with a disability obtaining and maintaining employment
- promoting inclusion and participation in the community of people with a disability
- achieving tangible changes in attitudes and practices which discriminate against people with a disability.
The actions identified in the Disability Action Plan apply to the departmental workforce and workplaces and do not extend to sector agencies.
