Your DonateLife message - Start the conversation

A new DonateLife initiative aimed at making it easier for Australians to share their wishes regarding organ and tissue donation has been launched by the Federal Organ and Tissue Authority.

Your DonateLife Message is a simple but powerful online resource that enables people to create a personalised message about their decision to become an organ and tissue donor and then share their decision with family and friends.

Recent research conducted by the Organ and Tissue Authority shows that one in three people who had not discussed their donation wishes with family members did not know how to go about starting the conversation.

Research also shows that even when people believe they have told family members they want to be an organ donor, in many cases such conversations are in passing and not easily remembered by family members.

The Your DonateLife Message has been developed to make it easier for Australians to share their wishes regarding organ and tissue donation. It is an interactive message that harnesses the power of social media and online networking to provide an innovative new communications tool.

It will also be a memorable reminder tool for those who have already had the discussion.

There are over 150 doctors and nurses located in 74 major hospitals around the country dedicated to improving organ and tissue donation and raising awareness about organ donation in hospitals.
