Premier's Award for Health & Medical Research

Victoria plays a leading role in health and medical research in Australia.
The Premier's Award for Health and Medical Research is presented annually to recognise the exceptional contributions made by early career health and medical researchers in their PhD studies.
The Premier's Award is open to Victorian PhD students or recently completed postgraduates whose research has or is being undertaken in a Victorian research institution in any field of health or medical research.
The winner of the Premier's Award will receive a trophy and certificate along with $16,000 to further develop their career in health or medical research.
Three additional prizes are presented to applicants who are highly commended by the judging panel. These applicants will receive $8,000 to further the development of their career in health or medical research.
The Jack & Robert Smorgon Families Foundation has also established the $30,000 Jack & Robert Smorgon Families Award. The award is presented annually to a Victorian research institute nominated by the Premier’s Award for Health and Medical Research recipient.
Applications are open now and close Wednesday 16 March 2011.
The Award is a joint initiative of the Victorian Government and the Australian Society for Medical Research (ASMR).
