Quit Victoria launches new website

Quit Victoria has launched a new and improved website that has an even stronger focus on supporting smokers to quit.
Alongside evidence-based quitting tips and new interactive features, the redeveloped site also includes a resource centre containing up-to-date information for health professionals, researchers, the media and tobacco control advocates.
Resources for smokers include:
- real life quit stories to motivate smokers to give quitting a go
- interactive tools including a cost of smoking calculator, nicotine addiction test and quitting checklist
- a video showcasing the Quitline service.
Resources for professionals include:
- quick links for health professionals and employers
- full catalogue of all Quit television ads
- information for specific groups such as Aboriginal and multicultural communities.
Quit Victoria is a joint initiative of the Department of Health, the Cancer Council Victoria, the National Heart Foundation and VicHealth.
Since the establishment of Quit Victoria in 1985, there has been considerable progress in reducing the harm that tobacco causes in our community. For example, Victoria's smoking rates have fallen substantially in both men and women.
Other advances include legislation to protect people from second-hand smoke, phasing out most cigarette advertising, banning of smoking in workplaces, and exposing tobacco industry practices.
