VQC Strategic plan 2008-2012

Strategic plan

In line with our new terms of reference, the Victorian Quality Council is required to develop a targeted four year strategic plan which defines a high level work plan for endorsement by the Minister.

We have developed our 2008-2012 strategic plan in the following ways:

  1. A survey of Council members was conducted during September and October 2008 to elicit ideas on what the major quality and safety challenges are in Victorian health care, and how we can put into operation our revised terms of reference so that we can realize sustainable, system-wide improvements that align with consumer expectations.
  2. A Strategic Planning Day was held on 14 November 2008. The results of the aforementioned survey informed discussion about the key strategies to be pursued over this four-year term.
  3. Engaging with other leading agencies working in the safety and quality sphere to identify gaps and duplication and to consider opportunities for collaboration.
  4. A systematic and iterative process of consultation and draft development involving Council members and the management group to flesh out the conceptual framework that was agreed at the Strategic Planning Day.
  5. The final draft was considered by Council at the 20 February 2009 meeting and subsequently endorsed by the Minister.
