The core elements of informed consent for transfusion have been derived from the Australian and New Zealand Society of Blood Transfusion and Royal College of Nursing Australia (ANZSBT /RCNA) Guidelines for the administration of Blood Products 2nd edition and the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Healthcare National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards (NSQHSS) September 2011.
