Support and intervention services provide immediate help and support to people with a mental illness or psychiatric disability who are acutely ill or in crisis.
These services also help people to access other specialist support they may need.
Referrals can be made by a health professional or individual via the area mental health triage service. If an individual presents to the emergency department of a hospital for urgent treatment, the staff there will also refer to mental health services as necessary.
