Chief Psychiatrist guidelines

The Chief Psychiatrist's guidelines contain specialist information and advice on clinical practice in mental health and wellbeing services.

They are a resource for:

  • complying with the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022
  • attaining high standards of quality and safety when delivering treatment and care
  • developing local policies and procedures that govern clinical practice.

The Chief Psychiatrist’s guidelines have been developed in consultation with a wide range of people, including clinical experts, consumers and carers. This ensures they are current and meet the diverse needs of our community.
