Legislation covering mobile health services
The requirements for the safety and quality of patient care in Victoria's private health are set out in the Health Services Act 1988 (the Act) and the Health Services (Health Service Establishments) Regulations 2024 (the Regulations).
Proprietors need to make sure they understand their legal obligations and how to meet the standards set out in the Act and Regulations.
The Secretary to the Department of Health (the department) registers day procedure centres under provisions set out in Part 4 of the Health Services Act 1988 (the Act).

The Department of Health (the department) assesses an application for the renewal of registration in accordance with criteria detailed in section 89 of the Health Services Act 1988 (the Act).

The proprietor of a registered mobile health service may apply for the transfer of registration of the establishment.
The Department of Health assesses an application for the transfer of registration in accordance with the criteria detailed in section 93 of the Health Services Act 1988 (the Act).
