Live4Life is continuing to support young people’s mental health and wellbeing in south-east Victoria.

The suicide rate is higher in rural and regional communities. Live4Life empowers young leaders in the Latrobe Valley, and across the state, to help change that.

The Latrobe Health Assembly has brought Live4Life, the award-winning youth mental health and suicide program, to the Latrobe Valley community and secondary schools. Through a local partnership, the model has been tailored specifically to the community since March 2024.

Recently, the local 'Crew' was brought together for the first time. The Crew is a group of inspiring young people from participating secondary schools across the Latrobe Valley who volunteered to lead the promotion of positive mental health messaging throughout their schools and broader community.

With enthusiasm and excitement, these young mental health ambassadors worked together to identify their focus for the year ahead, and are putting plans in place to share the message with their community.

In its first year alone, almost 1000 young people in the Latrobe Valley received Teen Mental Health First Aid training, and over 100 local adults were trained in Youth Mental Health First Aid. Those numbers will continue to grow.

See Live4LifeExternal Link to learn more, including how you can bring Live4Life to your community.
