- Represents the Department and supports the implementation of Victoria’s new Palliative and End-of-Life Care Framework 2026-36
About the Chief Palliative Care Adviser
- Associate Professor Mark Boughey is Victoria's first Chief Palliative Care Adviser.
- Appointed from July 2025, the Chief Palliative Care Adviser oversaw the refresh of the previous 2016 Palliative Care Framework.
- The Chief Palliative Care Adviser’s work now focuses on strategic advice and implementation support for Victoria's new Palliative and End-of-life Care Framework 2026–36
Key activities
- Mark was the Head of palliative care at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne for 18 years
- Mark is currently on the Executive Committee of the International Collaborative for Best Care for the Dying Person, centred in the UK, of which Victoria is a member organisation along with 60 plus countries.
