Planned surgery reform blueprint
Planned surgery is central to Victoria's healthcare system. It provides essential care that improves the quality of life for tens of thousands of Victorians each year. The Planned surgery reform blueprint provides operational guidance to public health services on delivering planned surgery and procedures.
Day surgery implementation toolkit
The Day surgery implementation toolkit supports health services to safely introduce, expand and monitor day surgery pathways through local adaptation of best practice guidelines.
Planned surgery access policy 2024
The Planned surgery access policy 2024 sets out the department’s expectations for access to planned surgery and procedures in Victorian public health services. This policy replaces the 2015 Elective surgery access policy. The target audience is Victorian public health services, particularly the executive and management teams of these services.
Planned surgery communication toolkit
A series of written communication templates have been developed to promote consistent, respectful and clear communication with patients about being on a planned surgery preparation list for their planned surgery.
Robotic-assisted surgery departmental policy and investment guidance
A departmental robotic-assisted surgery (RAS) policy was released in September 2024.
The policy provides formal direction to the sector on RAS, including the department's position on RAS investment. The policy is accompanied by non-binding investment guidance to assist health services with RAS investment decisions.
