Review of Cemeteries and Crematoria Regulations 2015

Consultation now open

The Cemeteries and Crematoria Regulations 2015, made under the Cemeteries and Crematoria Act 2003, outline key regulatory requirements for public cemeteries. These cover how public cemeteries are managed, cared for and protected.

The current Regulations will expire on 16 June 2025 unless they are replaced. To prepare, the Department of Health is reviewing them and considering updates.

We have published a discussion paper to get feedback. This paper asks if the Regulations still meet community needs and looks for ideas to improve them.

We want to hear from stakeholders and the community about the topics in the paper.

Your feedback will help shape the future of these important Regulations.
